Our Story

Absolutely Fabulous was opened in December 2000 by owner, NY designer and artist Mara Anka Kustra.

At 24, Mara had decided to leave New York City for a new and exciting retail venture in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Mara had a vision to bring something unique and fabulous to New England and thus her first store, Absolutely Fabulous was born.

Absolutely Fabulous opened December 15, 2000 in Somerville, Massachusetts. It was so successful that within months of opening it won its first Boston’s Best award. Absolutely Fabulous became known as a haven of beautiful items that you couldn’t find anywhere else in Massachusetts.

Right from the start, Mara made sure that the store was filled with the best of everything…

Home décor items, clothing & accessories, all either one of a kind vintage, new, or handmade. Mara continually takes care in hand picking each item sold in the store and makes sure that there is a unique variety covering all tastes and styles.

In 2003 Absolutely Fabulous relocated to a 2000 square ft space in Cambridge, Massachusetts and remains as of today a must see “living art installation”, Boston Phoenix, 2004.

Since its opening Absolutely Fabulous and Mara Anka Kustra have been featured in countless of magazines, television shows & has won many awards.

To kick off 2005 and to celebrate the growth of this fabulous venture, Mara decided to give Absolutely fabulous a unique new image and changed the name to Boutique Fabulous.

All remains the same. Mara continues to run the show and Boutique Fabulous continues to be filled with fun and fabulous merchandise.
